FORMER Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has been added to the Lashings side ahead of their game against Rockhampton tomorrow.
Yousuf averaged 52.29 in 90 Test matches, with his last appearance coming in the match against England at Lord’s two years ago, which was marred by the spot-fixing scandal.
He also played in 288 one-day internationals, with his last international game being as recent as November 2010 against South Africa.
Yousuf replaces former Pakistan team-mate Imran Nazir from the side originally named last week.
The Lashings’ previous game against Rockhampton last year was such a success that the star-studded invitational side decided to return to the Boundary Field for a re-match.
Organiser Jack Spence said: “The moment we finished last year we thought it would be good to have them back, so it’s been a year in waiting. It could become an annual event.
“It went so well last year and it’s been so much easier organising things this year, it seems like a no-brainer.”
Former Gloucestershire and Australia all-rounder Ian Harvey is one of four players named in the Lashings side that didn’t play at Rockhampton last year and Spence revealed the players are relishing pitting their wits against him.
The side will be captained by Phil de Freitas and features big names such as Saqlain Mushtaq and Devon Malcolm.
Spence said: “Ian Harvey is playing and everyone is excited about that.”
The 35-over match starts at 2.30pm. During the tea interval the children 16 children from Gillingstool Primary School will be playing a game of Kwik Cricket.
