A Berkeley-based family have enjoyed a lot of success recently.
Peter Georgi finished second overall and first in his age group on The Tour of the Abberleys race, while taking first prize in the senior competition for second category riders at the South Wales Llandow stage race.
His son Etienne won the under-14 category at the latter, with daughter Pfeiffer, who is a Year 6 pupil at St Mary’s School in Thornbury, finishing second in the under-12s.
The 2010 Tour of the Abberleys winner Peter rode an attacking race on the biggest stage race for cyclists over-40 in the UK, which comprises four stages over three days.
He took fourth in the first stage time trial prologue, finishing three seconds behind the winner.
Peter then improved his position by winning the first road stage.
Part of a three-man break, he attacked with 200 metres to go and won by a second.
After the first day, Peter was lying in second place overall.
The second day brought a tough, windswept stage on undulating roads where numerous attacks were brought back by the bunch.
Giant CC team-mate, Simon Baynes, helped Peter stay in the front group and he took sixth in the end of stage sprint.
The final day saw two feared ascents of 20 per cent for over a mile, which split the bunch, and Peter took fifth spot.
Though finishing ahead of the yellow jersey in that sprint, conquering that one second time difference eluded Peter as he finished second overall, winning the 45-49 age category.
Each category at Llandow competed in three separate races, held over the one mile closed-road circuit at Llandow.
Hotly contested, Peter finished on the same overall points as his second-placed rival but was awarded first place as he won the final event.
Pfeiffer narrowly missed victory in her category, finishing just one point behind the leader.
Castle School pupil Etienne produced a clear victory in the under-14s, biting at the heels of the under-16 riders.
